Privacy Policy

🔒 Short version: PDFyre processes all files entirely inside your browser. We do not upload, store, transmit, or have access to any file you process. We collect no personal data.
1. Who We Are
PDFyre (pdfyre.xyz) is a free browser-based PDF tool suite. All tools including OCR, Merge, Split, and Compress run entirely client-side using JavaScript in your browser.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
PDFyre does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Any files you upload or process
- The content or text extracted from your PDFs
- Your name, email, or any personal information
- Your IP address (beyond what your browser sends to any website)
- Payment or financial information
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
3. How File Processing Works
When you use PDFyre, all processing happens on your own device:
- Files are read directly in your browser using the HTML5 File API
- PDF rendering is done by PDF.js running locally in your browser tab
- OCR is performed by Tesseract.js running locally in your browser
- Output PDFs are assembled by pdf-lib running locally in your browser
- Large files use IndexedDB — a local browser storage mechanism on your device
- Files are never sent to any server at any point in the process
4. Local Storage
PDFyre uses your browser's localStorage to save your last used settings (OCR mode, language, batch size). This data never leaves your device and can be cleared by clearing your browser data. We use IndexedDB temporarily during processing of large files — this is cleared automatically after each processing job completes.
5. Third-Party Libraries
PDFyre loads the following libraries from third-party CDNs. These CDN providers may log standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, file requested) as is normal for any web server:
- PDF.js — loaded from jsDelivr CDN (jsdelivr.net)
- pdf-lib — loaded from jsDelivr CDN (jsdelivr.net)
- Tesseract.js — loaded from jsDelivr CDN (jsdelivr.net)
- Tesseract language models — downloaded from Tesseract.js CDN on first use of each language, then cached by your browser
- Google Fonts — loaded from fonts.googleapis.com
We do not control these third-party services. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for details on their data practices.
6. Google AdSense
PDFyre may display advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to PDFyre or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to PDFyre and/or other sites on the internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
7. Google Analytics
PDFyre may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (page views, session duration, traffic sources). Google Analytics uses cookies and collects anonymised usage data. No personally identifiable information is collected. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. Cookies
PDFyre itself does not set any cookies. Cookies may be set by:
- Google AdSense (advertising cookies)
- Google Analytics (analytics cookies)
- Google Fonts (performance cookies)
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not affect PDFyre's core functionality as we do not require cookies to operate.
9. Children's Privacy
PDFyre does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The service is intended for general use and we do not direct it at children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of PDFyre after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
