📋 Short version: Use PDFyre for legal purposes. We provide the service as-is with no guarantees. We are not responsible for the content of files you process. Don't abuse the service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using PDFyre (pdfyre.xyz), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

PDFyre provides free browser-based PDF tools including OCR (Optical Character Recognition), PDF Merge, PDF Split, and PDF Compress. All tools run entirely client-side in your web browser. PDFyre does not upload, store, or process your files on any server.

3. Permitted Use

You may use PDFyre to:

Process PDF files that you own or have legal rights to modify
Convert scanned documents to searchable PDFs
Merge, split, or compress PDFs for personal or professional use
Use the tools for commercial purposes without restriction

4. Prohibited Use

You may not use PDFyre to:

Process files containing illegal content
Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute PDFyre as your own product without permission
Use automated scripts to abuse the service in ways that affect other users

5. Your Content and Responsibility

Since PDFyre processes files entirely in your browser, we never see, access, or store the content of your files. You are solely responsible for:

Ensuring you have legal rights to the files you process
The content of files you process using PDFyre
Compliance with any applicable laws regarding the files you process

6. Intellectual Property

PDFyre, its design, interface, and original code are the intellectual property of PDFyre. The name, logo, and branding may not be used without permission.

PDFyre is built using the following open-source libraries: PDF.js (Apache 2.0), pdf-lib (MIT), and Tesseract.js (Apache 2.0). Their respective licenses apply to those components.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

PDFyre is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
OCR results will be accurate or complete
Output files will be compatible with all PDF readers or software
The service will be available at all times

Use PDFyre at your own risk. Always keep a backup of your original files before processing.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PDFyre and its creators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of files, or errors in OCR output.

9. Third-Party Services

PDFyre may display advertisements through Google AdSense and use Google Analytics for traffic analysis. These third-party services have their own terms of service and privacy policies which apply independently of these Terms of Use.

Donation and payment links (Razorpay, Buy Me a Coffee, etc.) are provided for voluntary support. These are governed by the terms of those third-party platforms.

10. Modifications to Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue PDFyre at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of PDFyre after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
